Value Bet
A bet made with a strong hand, hoping to get called by worse hands.
A value bet is a bet you want to be called, made when you expect to have the best hand often enough that worse hands paying you off is profitable. It is the opposite of a bluff, where you want better hands to fold.
The key skill is sizing: bet the largest amount worse hands will still call. Against calling stations you can value bet bigger and thinner than normal, because they pay off with a much wider range of weaker holdings.
