Continuation Bet (C-Bet)
A bet made by the preflop raiser on the flop to continue their aggression.
A continuation bet, or c-bet, is a bet on the flop made by the player who raised before the flop. The idea is to keep applying pressure and win the pot whether or not you actually connected with the board.
C-bets work because the preflop raiser often has the stronger range and the flop misses both players most of the time. Good c-betting is about picking your spots and sizes based on the board texture and, in live low-stakes games, the specific opponent: fire relentlessly against players who fold too much, and slow down against calling stations who never fold.
